If you have drug and alcohol problems and you are struggling to keep a roof over your head, Solutions can give you the support you need, when you need it, to sort out your housing problems.
What is SOLUTIONS floating support?
Solutions is a FREE housing-related floating support service for people who are experiencing problems with drugs or alcohol.
The aim of the service is to support you to sort out your housing difficulties and give you the skills and knowledge you need to live independently.
‘Floating support’ means that the service Solutions can offer you is temporary and flexible – one-to-one support is available when you need it, for as long as you need it.
Can SOLUTIONS support me?
Are you:
1) living in Nottinghamshire?
2) aged 16 or over?
3) having difficulties keeping a roof over your head?
4) prepared to address your drug or alcohol use?
If so, Solutions can support you. The service is available for single people, couples or families. We have support workers based across Nottinghamshire so support is available to you wherever you live in the county.
If you apply for support from Solutions, the service will encourage you to address your drugs or alcohol use. Solutions works with local drugs or alcohol services, to ensure that you have the support you need to cut down or stop. Reducing your drugs or alcohol use will improve your ability to maintain your home and reduce your risk of becoming homeless.
If appropriate, the floating support team can refer you to Solutions accommodation service, which provides specialist supported housing for people who have drugs or alcohol problems.
Who decides what support I need?
You do! Solutions will give you one-to-one support – we will work with you to assess what support you need and work out a plan to address the problems you are having.
When your support plan is agreed, you will meet at least once a week at your home - or at an alternative meeting place if necessary - to achieve the goals set in your plan.
This could include:
help in finding and applying for accommodation
dealing with evictions and possession proceedings
dealing with housing applications
accessing specialist services (e.g. to address your drug/ alcohol problem)
making benefit claims
budgeting and debt repayment
obtaining furniture and setting up a new home
dealing with housing officials and private landlords
maintaining contact with services such as social services and hospitals
accessing education, training or employment opportunities
accessing local services (e.g. dentists, GPs, library, leisure centres)
When you and your support worker agree that you no longer need support, it will go to someone else who needs it. But if you feel you need support again in the future, you can just get in touch.

If an agency is making a referral on your behalf, they must ask your permission before making an application and be willing to complete a risk assessment. We welcome referrals from:
• People who need support with housing
• Any statutory, voluntary or community organisation
